How to get my headphone working with my computer

When I insert my headphone cord into my computer the speaker works but the microphone does not work. When the same is done at the back plugins of the computer the microphone works but the speaker does not work. What am I to do to correct this. Thanks

If you only have one cord, you need an adapter to break out the VOICE path and separate it into the MIC JACK!

So, you found a mini plug adaptor that breaks out into two miniplugs? If that is the case, then reverse the leads!
