Asus audio jack not working

This post is for people who are having a very specific issue.

Please see this before you try this fix. The issue this fix addresses was on an HP Compaq 515 running on Windows 7 Home Premium.

I have laptop with working speakers. When headphones are plugged in, they are detected but do not play music. You cannot set the headphones as the default playback device even if you disable the speakers. Reinstalling the audio drivers does not work

Solution:

-Open "Add or Remove Programs"
-Uninstall IDT Audio
-Restart computer

I have an HP Pavilion dv6000 laptop with Windows Vista. Just recently, I've had a problem with my headphone jacks. When I plug in my speakers, the sound still comes out of the laptop speakers, but no sound comes out of the headphones. Usually, when I plug in my headphones the Realtek HD Audio Manager pops up and says that an audio device has been plugged in, but that doesn't happen anymore. I originally thought there was a problem with my headphones because my laptop is 6 months new, and my headphones are cheesy 99 cent old ones. So, I tried my roommates' and his didn't work either.

Is there anything I can do to fix this?

I have had a new laptop for a month or so, with Windows , it's been fine. Suddenly my headphone socket is not working- when I put headphones or a lead in the socket, sound continues to come out of the laptop speakers, but not into the headphones.

Can anyone help?

Hello, I recently experienced no sound on my laptop and I couldn't understand why. I tried all the quick fixes I found online and nothing. I was even about to download a new driver altogether but luckily I found the problem before that... Turns out my playback options had switched which was really stupid so this is what I did. On the bottom right hand side of my tool bar I located my volume control and right clicked. When the menu popped up I clicked on the sound option and once that menu appeared I went all the way to the top where there are (3) tabs and clicked on the first one which is playback. I had to have everything re-loaded onto my computer, at a local shop. Now everything thing works except my speakers, or even headphones on the front plug. I have made sure everything is plugged in correctly, turned on, all the volumes are set at the highest level possible. All my drivers (SB Live) say they are fine and working. Please help me.
