Cant get any program to work with my nano

Hello,
i need help i cant get anything to work with my nano the only message i get is that my device is using a out dated driver and cant be suppored i tried downloading itunes same problem, i tried rhapsody, i tried windows i tried media converter nothing works!!! the lock is not on, on my nano please help :(
