Hi - I have a Dell Inspiron 660 that will start booting and stops, fans are spinning, but power lite is yellow instead of white. I was trying to clone the hard disk when this happened, so boot order is DVD first. There is no video, and there are no beeps when it starts - sounds normal at first, DVD acts like it is doing something then quits. Doesn't matter if there is a disk in the DVD or not.
I would like to fix it if I can without huge expense as it is about 3 years old. I would very much appreciate some guidance to help me figure out if I should just buy another PC or try to repair this one.
Thanks for any help you can provide.

Did you try running the Dell diagnostics. It's F11 or F12 after you see the Dell Logo.

I should have mentioned that I get nothing on the monitor - and I know the monitor works, I have another machine connected to it.

Update - I pulled/replaced the battery, now I get a white power lite, but still nothing after the dvd thrashes a bit. I read in another topic that pulling the RAM should result in some beeps - tried that and no beeps. Does this imply the motherboard is toast?
