Perhaps it's malware. I suggest you download the free version of Malwarebytes and run a scan of the system. Just Google the name to find a download location.

it also can be that you have recently added some new software and installed it wrongly and now it creates problems in startup.
i would recommend that you try out the antivirus software s but if they dont find nothing and still it is slow then i would suggest that you do a fresh installation of the Windows to prevent further damage to your laptop.
