Toshiba Satelilte have to right click on the speaker icon

Hello,

I have the same problem the laptop used to automatically detect when headphones were plugged in and it switched automatically to headfones then when the headphones were unplugged it would switched back to the speakers automatically. Now I have to right click on the speaker icon on bottom right of screen then go into headfones and set as default to get them to work but then when wanting to use laptop speakers again you have to set speakers to default for them to work, Why don't the laptop automatically switch anymore?
