Black screen

I have a Gateway NV53 Laptop that just gives me a black screen when I turn it on. I have removed the battery, unplugged it and held in the power button 20 sec with no luck. LED lights are lit and fan is running...any ideas?

it sounds like your back light is out or failed. Take it too a technician if the fan spins and hard drive spins up. We may be able to help if you let us know what OS you are using. We can see then by keystrokes if your pc is running and not displaying! Let us know what OS, so that we can map out keystrokes and have you folow them to see if it shuts down based on the key stroke. then you wold know if the OS is running, and not displaying!

Ok, so press the windows key, press the up key twice, press enter. Press the up arrow up twice again and hit enter. Let us know if it shuts down!
