Apps won't open without restarting tv

Hello,
I have a 120gb PS3 slim and I have a 32 inch insignia LCD TV. The PS3 and the TV work just fine. But whenever I try to open an app, the TV goes blank. I have to manually restart the TV and the app opens just fine. Does anyone know why this happens?

I'm not a good expert at the PS3, but I do know some friends have them, so I may be able to help, don't know if this solution helps, try resetting the PS3, reinstall the apps, or if your PS3 is still in warranty, replace it.
