Hello,
I already have two IDE drives connected to my Dell Dimension 4300 and note there is a
third slot that is available. However I only have a ribbon cable with two connectors on it.
Can I buy a cable with three connectors and hook up a third disc drive? I'm a little worried
about overloading the power supply so, the other question is how do I determain if it's okay?

IDE cables should only really have 1 or 2 Hard drives per ribbon as a rule, the best setup is usually one HD and one DVD device per ribbon for optimum performance, as for power uses thats entirely down to the PSU rating and what combo of graphic card and addon cards are being used.
