Run dual monitors

Hello,

tring to run dual monitors, main is dell24 inch,came with inspiron620, 2nd is Samsung 24 inch...have dell going to tower vga type cable, hooked hdmi to Samsung going to tower..had picture with no control ,then just went out? should I try the disconn pwr. cord and hold dwn. start button?

Why? It's not going to help in this case.
