Hello,
Do you see any led's blinking when you try to power it on? Is it a laptop with a removable battery?
If it has a removable battery try the following :
1. Unplug the power adapter.
2. Remove the battery.
3. Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds
4. Put the battery back into the laptop
5. Plug in the power adapter.
6. Power on the laptop.
Do you get to see something else than a black screen? If this does not work you may have a more serious issue that needs further investigation.
