Hi there Jane,
Please, pull out the laptop battery and the power cord. Then, press the power button and hold it for abut a minute. Try to boot your lappy with the power cable only.
If that doesn't help, try to resett the BIOS. You can do so by pulling out the CMOS battery, but make sure you do not oopen the lappy if it is still under warranty.
You must open it after you have pulled out the battery and the power cord of the laptop. Once you have open the lid, localize the CMOS battery which is next to the processor and it looks like a watch battery.
If you have another CMOS battery, you can replace it with that. If you don't, leave your current battery aside and wait for some minutes for the electricity to discharge. Then, plug the CMOS battery back in and the power cord and try to boot your laptop again.
