Desktop monitor shows no signal

when I push on off button on my Lenovo desktop doesn't light up smaller light next to it is on can hear computer start up than monitor shows no signal thanks in advance

Does the OSD (on Screen Display) on the monitor work. Hit the settings button on the monitor, does it do anything? If not, than bad monitor. If it does display a menu, then check your cable. If you have verified that the cable is still connected, then you may want to take it to a technician!
