Change external d drive

Hello,

Hi there my external hd and my disk drive is name the same drive d. How do i change my external to drive F etc as I can't see or even puck up my driv

Hi CB,

Connect your external drive and open Disk Management. Check if the drive is listed there. When you right click it, you should have the option to assign a drive letter. Select a letter you like and that is not in use or reserved. Changing the drive letter does not affect the stored data, so you need not worry about that.

Hi again thanks for the reply. I tried it and the external just keeps loading and somehow shuts itself off from the system. I can see the storage space and when i try to change the device path it kicks off..

Does this happen when you connect the device to another PC? There may be a connectivity issue too, so try with another USB cable. From Device Manager, search for the drive and uninstall it. Restart the PC and plug the drive back in. Windows should reinstall the drivers automatically.
Another thing to try: open Control Panel and the Power Saving Options. Make sure you have the High Performance plan selected.
