Hp desktop freezes

hello. my desktop is hp xw4600. recently i upgrade its processor into quadcore. everything was fine. 8gb ram. yesterday i was copying files from an external hdd. at the same time i tried to play a music, and suddenly everything stoped to work. even mouse cursor is fixed. i tried to restart the pc but nothing on the monitor totally black. but cpu fan is running. what may be the problem?

Many parts can fail:
motherboard
memory cards
video card (if you have one)
power supply

It is impossible to guess which one is YOUR problem.

I suggest you find a local PC repair shop to diagnose your PC.
