Go to microsoft office-- microsoft office tools-- microsoft office picture manager-- help-- detect and repair-- check restore my shortcuts while repairing.

click on new
then click on New Microsoft word

However, I am unable to solve the problem following your instruction.
I right clicked on desktop-clicked on new-then clicked on New Microsoft word.
I opened the new file but the Microsoft word icon doesn't change.
