Gmail is going to trash

There was a question about this happening to someone else and they had a filter set. I have no filter and pop is set correctly. This has been happening for about 3 weeks. My husband has the same problem. I use both a mac and windows. I removed the account from my iPhone with no change.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

When my email comes into Gmail 1/2 of them go directly to the trash. This is happening with no filters and if the person is in my contacts list.If I go to the trash and select them to be moved to the inbox, it flashes them gone and seconds later they return to the trash.

I have had these same emails arrive in my inbox for years and all of a sudden they go to the trash. This is on a Windows 10 and my husbands Windows 7 machine. I've tried using different browsers and it still happens..I think this is happening to a lot of people, they just haven't checked their trash.
