Playstation 3 won't play games

Hi I am VideoGameHelper and I need help my playstation 3 won't play games. I put the game into the disc reader and it reads the disc but it doesn't pop up on the game menu. Can anyone help me. Please?

If you take it to your friends house, does his read the disk?
