My dell does not show anything (remains dark) on the screen after switching on. The fan and the power light starts working as soon as i hit the power button. Nothing happens after that, only a ticking sound i can hear, as the screen remains off. There are no signs of the screen being broken. What should i do?

Dead PC's are best diagnosed by a local PC repair shop that has physical access to the hardware. This ticking noise might be a failed hard disk.

Good Luck

Thank you very much. It happened in the past, just removed the battery, restarted it and it worked. That made me not to worry about anything as I thought it was a small issue until it happened again, tried the same procedure but in vain. Ill have my hard disk checked. Thank you again for your help.
