Slow very slow

Hello, I bought Sonny Vaio 2 years back. Its configuartion: Hard disk 120 GB, processor 2 GH, Memory 1 GB. It is slow, very slow. It takes 5 to 10 minutes to start. Morevoer, takes time to open files. What could the reason behind it. It was like this from the very begining. Window is vista.

Kindly, you will help me

It was too slow to run VISTA when new and it's still too slow now. Sony sold you a computer that was not capable of running VISTA. You can try to shut down all unnecessary tasks but I doubt it will help.

Thanks for your answer but, What if I change to XP instead of Vista?

Yes it would work better wit XP. Check with Sony web site for the correct drivers before you switch.
