External monitor on HP

Hello,
I am trting to connect an acer lcd external monitor to my hp pavilion it starts to load ok but then the acer monitor shows no siganl, the connections all look fine, do i need to alter a setting on my laptop?

Hi there,

Press FN+ F4 or other F keys with a display of screen logo at same time then you will get it on external.
