No sound from laptop speakers

Hello,
I use an acer aspire 3680 laptop, the laptop is able to detect that a jack has been plugged but no sound comes out... please help

Dear Thabi,

Please get to the Device Manager and see whether you are using the right compatible driver or still if the audion driver should be updated in order for it to function properly.
