Wireless connectionm

Hello,
When i try to access tje internet on my computer it does not show any existing wireless networks but there is a network because my ipod can connect to the internet . It says that i have to turn on the wireless switch but i dont know how to do it?

On Dell laptops there is a switch on the right side that turns wireless on and off. What brand laptop do you have?

thanks , the brand is an hp pavilion dv6-1053cl entertainment notebook pc . i think i know where it is but i dont know how to switch it , because im not sure if its a button or not.
