Help!
The primary hard drive on my HP Pavilions laptop died & replaced it. The HP recovery disc with the OS seemed to install fine. After the restart I get error message on BIOS that IDE is missing. HP suggests this is a motherboard issue.
Any ideas?

Jumpers?
On the back of the drive their are some pins and there is a small block which you can move around to have different combination. These are jumpers and can be set to Master, Slave or Cable Select

Thanks! I have resolved this issue. I removed the new 320G hard drive & replaced it with the second hard drive from same laptop (160G) & have been able to use the sytem recovery to restore back to the factory image.
HP tech support told me it was a motherboard issue & needed to be shipped to factory for repair. They were wrong.
