Use the following formula in g6:

=IF(d6<39234,e6*5.15%,e6*10.3%)

39234 is General value of Date 1-Jun-2007

enter the date
right click on the cell
click format cell
a pop-up window of format cells opened

now click general on the Number tab
it will show you the general value of date

the system is not reading it as date,

chage 31/5/2007 as

31/05/2007 if it works that great, otherwise

try in this form

mm/dd/yyyy

means

05/31/2007

none of it is working.

Do this:

1) First change your format to the specific date that you want for your column of data.
2) With the column selected, select "Copy"
3) Open notepad (NOT WORD, it has to be notepad)
4) Paste your data into notepad.
5) In notepad, press CTRL + A (selects all cells) then press CTRL + C (copies data)
6) Paste data back into Excel.
7) It will say something about size not being the same, paste it anyways.

after that you can check general value.
