How to restore my Gateway to factory settings

Hello,
I cant seem to restore my laptop.I lost my manual(go figure) and everytime I click to restore/recovery it gives me an error message that tells me I can't do it.I must've lost the disc so I can't use that to restore.How do I go about rebooting and restoring my laptop to factory settings again?
