Windows 10 install on vista pc

I have downloaded windows 10 and the iso file image software,rufus. The disk boot file has to go to a usb thumb drive.I did this and because vista will only accept a boot from a disc i then copied the file to a dvd. Is this ok because the pc is refusing to load it. It would appear that a plain burn of the usb file is not ok.
I am assured that the mounted file is ok.

Have you made sure that your machine is compatible with Windows 10?

You should try to install directly from the download folder.
