USB stopped working

So I have my usb that I use for alot of things. Then one day after using it with my friends laptop, it just stopped working. It has a LED in the back that lights up when connected but it no longer lights up and my computer doesnt recognize it. Is there any way I could make it work again or at least recover the files.

Note:
My usb port does work so thats not the problem. And can any1 explain why this happened, thanks.

It appears that your flash drive was damaged by static electricity.

Damaged Flash Drives cannot be repaired.
