Hello, I had windows xp home edition on my pc. Caught a virus and it would not boot. I installed windows vista ultimate and it asks when booting if I want to use and earlier version of windows. XP is one of the options. I tried this but it asked for administrator password which I don't know what it is. Is there a way to load it and if it does can I recover my files or are they lost. Please help thank you

you can take out the hard disk of the computer, set the jumper as slave, then connect it to another computer.
you will be able to access it and thus, back up your files.
then you may install a fresh copy of Windows.
