RAM PC the cpu beeps 3 times

Hello,

I had 1+1=2gb ram
So i bought a new 4gb ram but whenever I place it on motherboard and start the PC the cpu beeps 3 times and the monitor won't display anything.i cleaned it so many times and also tried to place it on another pc,it works well.
But whenever I place 1+1=2gb ram on motherboard it works.
Please Help.

What is the make and model of your machine ?

What is your operating system ?

What type of new RAM are you trying to add, DDR, DDR2 or DDR3?
