D-sub blank screen

2 days ago my monitor worked fine..now when I turn it on it shows brand name of monitor..goes out briefly ..the word D-Sub pops on then back off and nothing else happens ..screen stays dark...
What do I do..not computer literate

Try this 1
If you are using a graphic card then remove the graphic card from the slot, clean it and place it back properly.
If the problem still exits then try connecting it to VGA and check if you are able to get the display.
