Avast "a" button

Hello,

I was trying to uninstall avast 4.8 home edition. In the process I got rid of the "a" buttons at the task bar. Now, I downloaded the uninstall engine from avast website, but now it cant work because of self protection. I'm unable to disable self protection because I cant access the "a" button. How do I reactivate the "a" button or how do I disable avast self protection without the "a" button?
