UNABLE TO REMOVE AVG OR Uninstall from my PC

Hello, I have windows 98 and AVG does not work with the older system, when I go into my control panel it lets me only go so far then I get a LOCAL MACHINE INSTALLATION FAILED ;;INSTALLATION ERROR:: ACTION FAILED FOR FILE SETUP EXE: CREATING BACKUP ACCESS IS DENIED (5) % DESTINATION % = C:PROGRAMFILES/GROSPFF and I get the uninstalled warning all the time-----what help can you supply????
I wish to clear this warning problem as its a real pain ----Thanks Doug
