How can I change the opareting system language of HP Pavilion dv2000
Please help me

This is for xp computers:

   1. click on start - it must be at the bottom left corner of the screen
   2. click on the writing next to the image of a paper with a tick on it and a pen (control panel)
   3. click on the icon that shows the earth and a calendar (date, time, language and regional options)
   4. click on the writing next to the image of a globe (it should open up a new window)
   5. change all the language options to the language of your choice or sometimes you have to put the country that speaks that language
   6. change tabs and do the same
   7. click on the first box at the very bottom of that window (ok)
   8. close all the windows by pressing the "x" on the top right corner of the window
   9. click on start
  10. click on the red "switch" icon (it should ask you what to do)
  11. click on the green icon (restart - should turn off and turn back on)
  12. check if it's the language of your choice (if not, I'm sorry!)

which type of OS are u using? if it is windows OS i'll advice u 2 do system restore with ur installation CD in GUI mode& nt in DOS mode, from there ask u 2 select the preffered language of ur choice.
please backup all ur datas b/4 proceeding at all,its nt 100% guarrante.

I'm in the same boat. I need to change the comuter's language from Greek to English. The system is using windows xp professional. It is so hard to find some info about it. I can't read anything. I need big time help!! Thank you

Found this in another forum... with claims that it works.. 

To change the whole system language you should install newer service pack with different language.  
 
For axample if you have XP SP2 in ENG and want to have it in Italian, you will have to download SP3 in Italian, change some registry keys (go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\Nls\Language registry key, and then change the value date for “Default” and “InstallLanguage” registry value from 0409 to 0410) and you'll be able to install it in Italian. 
 
If no problems occur, you will have the whole system language changed. Here is the list of numbers that represents each language in registry:

(at least that is the way it is supposed to work, but I am having the same problem and these steps are not working for me, but maybe you will have better luck).

Click on your start icon in your tray.
Click Control Panel
Find your icon for regional and language settings (a globe)
Double click on this icon.
Open the tab for Regional Options (This should be open by default )
Set this option for English then apply.
