HP screen goes black but you can see a little bit inside but can see normal

Hello,
I am using an HP and the screen turn black while I was watching a series you could hear them speaking but screen is black and when I off and on it it just be on then black screen came up . can you help me please all my works are inside there please

Laptop or Desktop?

laptop can be a failed screen - can you test using an external monitor?

The hard drive and be removed on most laptops and connected via a USB hard drive adapter to another computer.
