Yahoo account will not connect

I try to add my yahoo account in outlook. I input the appropriate settings port 993 encryption method SSL/TLS port 465 encryption method SSL/TLS (I also tried AUTO)

I then am asked for my password, and I input my yahoo account password, and I get a return message that says Something Went Wrong. Outlook cannot connect to the yahoo server.

I know the password I am using is correct because I tested that logging onto yahoo through an internet connection.

What else can be done?

per Yahoo support, the settings are:

Incoming Mail (POP) Server

Server -
Port - 995
Requires SSL - Yes

Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Server

Server -
Port - 465 or 587
Requires SSL - Yes
Requires TLS - Yes (if available)
Requires authentication - Yes

I tried changing to with the port 995 and the other settings that you suggested. It still does not connect.

I now have reset the mail application and cannot add the account.

Yahoo sees that I have agreed to allow the 3rd party application access to mail. I also have checked all the privacy settings and that is not the issue.

Any other suggestions?

If you have opted to allow, then I am not certain why.

You did this in the Yahoo account?

Go to the Account Security Settings page.
Turn the “Allow apps that use less secure sign in” setting to “On“
