Black screen that says windows error recovery

Hello,
when i turn on my computer its has a black screen that says windows error recovery.it tells me to choose one of the following safe mode,start windows normally etc. but when i do choose one the screen just stays black. i have windows vista

The Windows files are damaged. If you can't boot into safe mode can you boot with the Windows Vista DVD? The DVD has a repair option that might work to resolve your problem.

your windows is pached but try to fix the point of restore and yous norton gost to recovry
2- you the original cd windows and try to repair in .

I don't have a windows Vista CD - have tried safe mode and have no idea what to do next - please help!
