AOE 1 LAN problem

Hello,
I am trying to play age of empires 1 over a wireless ad hoc network set up between two computers on vista. I've tried all sorts of things with the network settings and firewalls of both machines but still no luck. Please help me! It would be so good to play with my friend!

Please check if your firewall is blocking age of empires! Just add the game on the exceptions programs!

Yes I have tried that but still no luck. Thanks for the reply. Any other suggestions?
