Recover a google account

My husband has a tablet from T-MOBILE. He had problems with it so the store personnel cleared the tablet and we don't know the password to recover the info. The email is ***@*** or ***@***. As they were looking through it they verified a phone number that ends in 83 as being attached to it. We have no phone number ending on that number. How else can we recover the Google account.
