Hello this is because your camera driver version for vista isn't installed on the pc!
Download the driver here:
https://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelInfoAct&fcategoryid=215&modelid=16303#DownloadDetailAct
Select the OS you are using, Vista, when the page has loaded then download!
Install and Restart your machine then plug the camera
