Hello Kathleen,
To disable startup sound for your Huawei phone, go to Settings > Sounds & vibration > More sound settings, then turn off Startup sound.

There isn't a more sound setting choice on the GR5 KII-L05 (2016)….Still unable to disable sound. Kathleen

Hi,
I didn't find any specific option allowing you to disable startup sound. It seems that it cannot be removed on your model, unless your root your phone - which isn't recommended for inexperienced users.
However, here are some workarounds that I suggest you try. Before switching off your phone, set all your volume settings to 0 - or try with the "Do Not Disturb" mode enabled. If you still hear the sound, try this app available on the Play Store.
Alternatively, plug in your headphones before turning on your phone. The speaker should be muted during startup.
Good luck
