Hi,
WhatsApp Desktop doesn't save your data as it syncs it from your phone.
Unfortunately, when reactivating your account on your new phone, WhatsApp will ask you to restore your data from your last backup, and it won't sync anything from your computer. WhatsApp Desktop will then sync again from your new phone and update accordingly.
The only way to continue backing up your discussions and other data is to reinstall WhatsApp on another phone, even for a temporary use.
