Trying to install wireless driver

Hello,
I have my wireless router working but my inspiron 6400 all of a sudden doesnt have any wireless icons anywhere so I think the driver dropped out. I have downloaded a new one from the Dell site but it still doesnt work. I think I might be doing something wrong in the unzipping or installation process. Someone please help me.

Dear Sir,

I will advise you doing a system restore to your machine!

Press start then click on all programs,

Click on Accessories then go on system tools,

Open System Restore!

Select a date when your pc was running fine then click next

Let the process to be done then restart your machine

I read your previous response re: installing wireless driver where you suggested system resart.
I have a same problem but System restart does not show earlier times only todays date as a restart point. Anzy suggestions? thanks in advance...
