That sounds like something worth taking to a shop to get them to fix it - or perhaps you know someone who is quite good at building computers or messing around with hifi or radios or something.
There's a lot of things to be careful of if you want to do this yourself and it could easily lead to some fairly serious harm to your machine but getting someone who has experience, perhaps to help show you, should be quite a quick way of getting it fixed ;)

hi there,
when hard drive is not connected system will display no hard drive detected, replace the disk and restart.
or you can run your pc without a hard drive by using bootable live cds
like linux, ubunto etc...
