Sound won;t work

ohkay hello everyone ...acTUAlly i am here asking a question whose answer i have been finding. I have a laptop and got xp installed in it... MY sound in my lappy used to work untill i reboot my whole system and installed windows again.. NOw even after installing sound driver from its cd. the sound thing doesnt come in the task tray pane and hence the sound wont work even i install the driver 100 times. and my sound device wont show in the control panel sound hardware........ i really need some help!...so is my sound card messed up ??? or something wrong with the window coz i have installed the window like 3 times after tht and it still wont work!

What model laptop is it? are they c-media drivers?

i had a similar issue with my sound on a c-media soundcard and NOTHING worked.. someone recommended www.fixedlikemagic.com though and they fixed it within 45 minutes.. much cheaper than getting someone to come out or taking it to a computer shop

You can fix it yourself, use the utility cd of your motherboard got to have propers drivers in there.

Hello,

Hello,

okay, it just happened today, the sound from my pc works fine; I can hear my music, videos, etc.

but when it comes to browsing on the internet, there is no sound! I go to youtube to watch a few vids and no sound! ive reinstalled my browser numerous times, and even downloaded a sound software. nothing!

any ideas?System Configuration: Windows XP
Firefox 3.0.1

Hello,

Problem with audio. No sound when streaming movies online. No problem playing DVD through optic drive or iTunes music and YouTube video. Checked sound devise-Realtek HD and it shows that drive is working and speaker set in default settings.

I have Window 7, Toshiba Satellite T215 laptop.

Hello.... I got home from work today and my sound was working I fell asleep for an hour and a half and when I woke up it was no longer working. I have no idea what happened... can someone please help me... I am using windows xp as an operating system. I don't know what else you might need to know but if you need something just ask... I have very little knowledge about computers and would appreciate very detailed and explicit directions... thank you so much for any help you can give me...
