Acer will not boot anything from usb drives

Hello, i have purchased a acer sa60 second hand all is well except it is running windows xp 2002 edition whenever i download sp2 or sp3 it somehow will not recognise anything that is plugged into any usb ports. this includes my mouse keyboard and cam

hi there,

make a system restore to a previous date before

installing those updates

then after that reboot your pc

hey thanks for the reply

i restored the computer after installing the updates but it just took it back to before i installed the updates therfor undoing the work i spent ages on lol

would it not be that i need to download drivers for the usb ports and card reader?

if so where would i get them from i have an acer aspire sa60.

if i am barking up the wrong tree please let me know.
