File got overwrited

Hello,
I was working on my summer project and i was trying to load part of the project up but for some reason when I tried to load it another file overwrited the file. So I have two of the same documents. I checked my history to get the file back but when I open the files name the other file opens. Can any one please help me?

To answer this properly, I need to know which application you used to compose the document.

Also,
"File got overwritten" instead of "File got overwrited"
"another file overwrote the file" instead of "another file overwrited the file"
