Downgrading compaq Cq 40, cq 45 laptops to XP

Hello,
I purchased compaq cq 40, laptop recently. I want to downgrade from vista to xp, but it not happening , instead a blue error screen is appearing, So, how to solve this problem, already i have spent nearly 2500 rupees installing xp from outside shops. So please help me, If u already hav gave solutin to dis problm, just sent the link regarding the problem to my mail. Please its urgent.

hi there,

before installing windows xp

you need to enter bios

and disable Sata / native mode

then reboot from installation cd

My laptop bios doesn't have any sata/native mode, instead i tried using nlite software, but i couldn.t find the sata drives for my motherboard, so please tell me how to find a specific sata drives for a specific motherboard.

Hi,

I also have the same problem like Subhani. I am not getting option to disable Native SATA mode in BIOS set up however we can disable this option from device manager, can we do so and if not what will be the alternative?

Please advice.
