Can not install windows xp

Hello,
I got a new hard disk to replace the broken one for my notebook, Afterwards I can not install Windows XP on it. The error message says that there is no enough storage but actually it is a 80G disk. I have tried linux and it works fine. But I need this laptop to be windows machine. What should I do? Thanks for reply.
