Cannot login to gmail while using I,E 6.0

Hello Friends,
I am facing this problem since last many days. I am unable to login to my gamil a/c.
Whenever i hit the login it shows me an error 'page cannot be displayed'
I am using internet explorer 6.0
To jst start using gmail, i have downloaded & installed firefox and google chrome.
but both these new web browzers wont work at all.
Thank God that atleast I.E. is working and I can visit other sites including google.com
My working platform is WINDOWS XP with Service Pack 2 (A LICENSED VERSION)
I had did all i can, but did not succeed. Pls if anyone got a solution then let me know.
Also adivse me why the other web browzers which i just recently installed... the firefox
and google chrome... don't work at all.
I am using dailup connection with 56 kbps to connect the internet.
Pls help.
